The Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) organized its 19th graduation ceremony at the Airport Heights campus on Sunday (10/11/13) where 367 students were awarded degrees. The ceremony was presided over by H E Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
Dr Ahmed Hassan al Balouchi, dean of CCE, advised graduates not to be afraid of taking risks. “This is a part of how we grow into creative professionals. These are essential ingredients of adult life and you have to face them with courage. As educated citizens and engineers, you have different responsibilities and roles to play. Your professional life will demand different things from you that require wise management, and your community will have several expectations from you which you need to fulfill. Being a graduate is a responsibility but as a graduate of CCE we all trust you to fulfill all your future roles with confidence. Our government has put in place plenty of opportunities for small business start-ups, so don’t lock yourselves into working for others. You can create jobs and work for yourselves as well. So grasp the opportunities. They are all for you”.
CCE also presented special awards. These include the Caledonian gold medal for academic excellence, late Mohamed bin Rashid al Fannah al Araimi citizenship award for outstanding contribution to the college and to the student community, and the Caledonian meritorious award for post graduates and undergraduate excelling in each discipline. A total of 48 students received the Caledonian meritorious awards.”
